The straight single-pointed needles are made of Teflon coated aluminum.   The Teflon coating prevents stitches from unavoidably sliding off the needle, but does not slow your knitting.

The larger sizes are very lightweight and made of a durable, but flexible plastic.

The INOX Circular Needles are great for slippery yarns. The Teflon coating helps prevent the stitches from sliding off the needle which makes for more manageable knitting. The join is tapered and slightly bent to allow for stitches to glide over the join.
